The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) is recognized among the World’s 75 Most Innovative Organizations in Tourism Policy 2021. The ranking was announced by ‘Apolitical’, a for-profit company in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization and Mastercard, an American Multinational Financial Services Corporation on Monday.

The TCB attributes this recognition to sustainable and responsible tourism through the Royal envisioned principle of ‘High-value Low volume’ tourism policy which guided Bhutan’s approach to tourism long before sustainable and responsible tourism concepts were introduced in the global tourism sphere.

Organizations were nominated based on recommendations from individuals, NGOs, organizations, governments, and global leaders. Apolitical was founded by mission-driven entrepreneurs and backed by impact investors in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, and Australasia and supported by an EU Horizon 2020 grant. Their mission is to make the government smarter to solve the world’s hardest challenges.
