With the numbers of coronavirus infections in West Bengal, India on the rise, the district administration of Samtse has stepped up preventive measures, in an effort to combat any potential COVID-19 outbreak in the Dzongkhag.

The district administration has closed liquor shops along the border, imposed restrictions on young people and children visiting the town area after 5 pm, and made it mandatory for all shops to close by 8 pm.

These measures are apart from the 24/7 border surveillance and door-to-door sensitisation on COVID-19 in the Dzongkhag.

Samtse Dzongkhag shares a 209-kilometer border with India.
