The Finance Ministry, while introducing Customs Bill of Bhutan 2015 in the National Council today, proposed a clause which would cover risk allowance for custom officials.
Lyonpo said the custom officials are not given any incentives even though they perform hazardous duties.
He said Royal Bhutan Police and forestry personnel are given incentives when they operate in dangerous situations.
The incentive is expected to motivate and encourage custom officials to effectively and efficiently collect revenues and prevent cross border movements of dangerous, illegal and unsafe goods.
The bill will be deliberated in the National Council.
