Religious scripture stolen

Nyakhar-Lhakhang-BuliThree hundred and Thirty paged religious scripture written in gold, Sergi-Jatongpa, has been stolen from Nyakhar Lhakhang of Nangkor Gewog in Buli under Zhemgang.

According to the Lhakhang’s caretaker, the scripture went missing since yesterday.

An investigating team comprising of dzongkhag and RBP officials, said the latch of the box where the scripture was stored, was broken.

The team said apart from the scripture, the rest of the relics are intact.

Meanwhile, Rigsum Goenpa under Bumdeling Gewog in Trashiyangtse was robbed last night. An elephant tusk and some corals were found missing from the Goenpa.

The Police say the incident must have happened after 10 p.m.

The case is under investigation.
