The recovering addicts and the staff of Chithuen Phendey Association are prostrating from Tashichhodzong to Tango Monastery for three days. The event is initiated as a gesture of appreciation, for His Majesty’s long life, prosperity and the wellbeing of all the sentient beings.
At around eight in the morning yesterday, 26 participants began prostrating after receiving blessings from Laytshog lopen at the Kuenray.
33-year-old Ugyen Kelzang from Bumthang is one of them. Wearing wooden palm protectors, knee pads and an apron, he is doing it for the very first time. They prostrated from Tashichhodzong to Pangrizampa yesterday. Ugyen used to be an alcohol dependant. But today, he is sober after receiving treatment from the association.
“Those who are addicted to drugs and alcohol, we might have done a lot of things which were not good so we want to get rid of our bad deeds. Today in honour of His Majesty The King, we have people from different age group who are prostrating not only on the road but also in the altar. Lastly, we want to earn merits so we decided to prostrate together,” he said.
Today they are heading towards Tango University from Pangrizampa. The prostration will end tomorrow at the Tango Monastery.
“The main reasons for today’s event is firstly to show gratitude for everything that His Majesty has done for us and CPA is especially indebted to His Majesty for his benevolent contribution towards the association. We are eternally grateful to His Majesty for giving new life to all the drug and alcohol addicts. And the prostration will also be a part of kurim for the ongoing pandemic,” said Karma Wangdi, the Manager of the Chithuen Phenday Association.
His Majesty the King turns 41 today. And such an important day brings people from all walks of life to show their love and affection.
