Queen Mother visits nunneries in the South and East

Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Tshering Yangden Wangchuck is in the east, visiting nunneries in the south and eastern part of the country.

Yesterday, Her Majesty visited the Samtenchholing Nunnery at Mukazor under Wamrong Dungkhag, Trashigang. During the visit, the Queen Mother met with the nuns and few local people gathered there. Her Majesty also visited the meditation centre and cottages of the nuns located near the Nunnery. The nuns were gifted with books, pens and cash donation. Samtenchholing nunnery was established few years back. Currently there are 15 nuns.

On Thursday, Her Majesty visited Sherub Yoedsel Choling nunnery at Pelrithang in Martsala Gewog under Samdrup Jongkhar. Her Majesty met with the nuns and local people there. Her Majesty gifted the nuns with robes. The nunnery was built a year ago and is yet to be completed. There are presently 14 nuns.
