Power supply to Lauri and Serthig Gewogs has been restored around 4:30 PM yesterday. Electricity supply was cut off since July 11th due to the heavy rain in these gewogs. Bhutan Power Corporation officials could not restore immediately as faulty lines were across swollen Jomo River and officials could not cross it.

Frequent power failures during the monsoon in these gewogs and sometimes staying without electricity for more than a week makes the villagers question the reliability of Bhutan Power Corporation.

However, Bhutan Power Corporation officials in Samdrup Jongkhar said they are not able to reach at faulty lines immediately due to lack of road facilities and swollen rivers on the way. They try to restore powers at the earliest as soon as they are informed but natural calamities sometimes delay their works.
