The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) has received status report from the two existing political parties, the People’s Democratic Party and Druk Phuensum Tshogpa.
The parties have submitted the status report which includes the financial statements, income expenditure, and membership list, liabilities status, party offices and office bearers. The report was submitted yesterday, according to the deadline set by the ECB.
The eligibility of the parties to contest in the next election will depend on the status report
ECB’s Commissioner, Deki Pema, said the status report will be reviewed by the public election fund division of ECB. The officials will also go through the latest audit report. The report will be further reviewed by the Commission.
Meanwhile, the ECB had earlier directed the two political parties to clear their financial liabilities by June 30. DPT says all their outstanding liabilities have been all cleared, while PDP is still in the process of clearing the outstanding debts.
