The Indian Ambassador, Gautam Bambawale, said Punatshangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority (PHPA) I and II might even be completed ahead of schedule. He was speaking to PHPA staff and officials while on his visit to PHPA I and II sites, yesterday.
“I expect you also to run ahead of time,” the Ambassador told them.

PHPA I was scheduled to be commissioned in November 2016. However, the construction of dam, which is critical for the completion of Punatshangchhu I, was halted. The work had to be stopped after the right bank started sinking. The remedial cost incurred is Nu.3.5 billion.
“I don’t think this is a major problem,” said Gautam Bambawale. He said funds and resources for both the projects will be available and that it will continue to flow to the projects.
PHPA I is expected to be commissioned by 2018 and PHPA II by 2017.
