The Punatsangchu Hydroelectric Project-1 is close to completing the underground powerhouse construction. So far, over 96 percent of the construction work has been completed.

The completion target of the underground powerhouse is September end 2021. However, the project authority said because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project is making all efforts to mitigate the impact of the pandemic and complete the work before the target.

The same approach was also adopted in the construction of the headrace tunnel of the project, which has been already completed.
