People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) supporters in Trashigang have filed a complaint against Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s (DPT) Kanglung-Samkhar-Udzorong candidate Thinley Palden Dorji.

The candidate is accused of providing meals to the public after the primary round of election. He is also accused of recruiting party members and tshogpas by paying membership fees on their behalf.

PDP has also accused a DPT supporter, Duptho of accompanying the candidate and making pledges to the people.

He is alleged of providing water drums, water pipes and CGI sheets to one of the villages in Bikhar.

The complaint letter says DPT party supporters are making private promises and are using private resources to solicit votes. Such practices, according to the letter, undermine free and fair elections.

DPT’s Kanglung-Samkhar-Udzorong candidate Thinley Palden Dorji, however, denies the allegations. He added the accusations are baseless.
