Despite breaking his personal best record in the shot put event, Gyeltshen could not win any medals at the ongoing World Para Athletics Championship 2019 held in Dubai. He broke his personal best record of 6.04 metres, which he made in China earlier this year, by making a throw distance of 6.29 metres this time.
“I need to do homework in different ways like going to the gym, I saw many of my friends are doing lots of gym sessions. Since we are new, we get to learn and experience new things. In future, I might be able to perform better,” he said.
Gyeltshen finished 12th in his event.
Two short-stature athletes, Gyeltshen and Chimi Dema are currently taking part in the World Para Athletics Championship 2019, after their commendable performance in the recent World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Chimi Dema will play her finals tomorrow. World Para Athletics Championship is a paralympic track and field meet organised by the International Paralympic Committee.
