Due to scarcity of irrigation water, farmers of Rilangthang village in Sergithang Gewog, Tsirang could not cultivate paddy for the last few years. A forest fire in 2014 had burnt the irrigation water pipes connecting the village.

However, with the Tsirang district agriculture sector recently agreeing to restore the irrigation pipes next year, farmers are looking forward to recultivating paddy in their fields.

Rilangthang village is located around 3 km towards Damphu from Walkleytar, a boundary demarcating Wangdue Phodrang and Tsirang districts.

The irrigation water shortage since 2014 has affected around 20 acres of wetland belonging to nine households.
