Thirty six customs officials from Paro and Thimphu attended two-day sensitisation workshop on the Revised Kyoto Convention. The workshop ended today.
The Revised Kyoto Convention is the international standards for making customs regulatory procedures efficient and effective.
A senior official said the convention will simplify the existing regulation laws focusing on the needs of the customers. He added changes will also include automated systems and web-based services where customers can declare goods online.
The draft for the revised laws has already been prepared. It will be submitted in the next parliamentary session for approval.
Bhutan became the 96th contracting party to the Revised Kyoto Convention in September this year.
