The Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited (NRDCL) office in Wangdue Phodrang bought a new sand dredging machine worth Nu.1.8 MN to take out sand from Punatshangchhu River.

The need for the machine was felt as the deposit of sand in the river banks are reducing every year even as the demand for it is increasing for construction purposes.
The sand is mostly transported to Thimphu to construct buildings.
NRDCL’s Regional Manager, Rinchen, said the machine is environment friendly. He said it also cleans the river bed, especially in summer, when the deposit is more.
