Participants of the 2nd Spring Trade Fair are not happy with the sales this time. The week-long fair ended today in the capital.
An official from the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BCCI, said they could not do a detailed study as to why the sales were low this time. The official, however, said it could be because the trade fair was held on working days. “It also could be because parents are saving money to send their children to college,” he added.
Ashok Singh, one of the organisers said the number of participants this year was low as compared to last year. He added that it will be difficult to bring in participants from India next year because of low sales.
Meanwhile, to attract the customers, some participants started offering discount on the last day while few others resorted to a different approach.
The fair, organised by the BCCI is an annual event. More than 80 stalls displaying various items ranging from home appliances, to furniture, electronic gadgets and garments were exhibited during the fair.
