His Holiness the Je Khenpo consecrated the newly built Ugyen Pema Woeling Zangdopelri temple in Baangdey under Loong-nyi Gewog in Paro, yesterday.

The Zangdopelri or the heavenly abode temple was consecrated following five days of sungchoe or prayer ceremony.

As part of the consecration ceremony, His Holiness the Je Khenpo presided over Tashi Rabney prayers, yesterday.

The three storey Zangdopelri temple has been built on an area sprawling over 3 acres. It has Guru Nangsay Zilon as the main nangten or most sacred statue.

“In the top floor, we have Choe Ku Kuengtu Zangpo surrounded by Gyelwa Ring-Nga. In the middle floor, we have Chenrizi surrounded by Ngye-Wei Saychen Gay. We have main Nangten as Guru Nangsay Zilnon and we have eight manifestations of Guru Rinpochoe along with his two consorts,” said the proprietor of Ugyen Pema Woeling Zandopelri temple, Khenpo Karma Jigme.

The privately constructed Zangpopelri temple will serve as a shedra in coming years. The Secretary of the temple, Lopen Tshering Wangchuk said, “We have plans to start a Shedra. But however, it might take about 10 years to implement the plan because we have to start with educating small number of monks”.

Khenpo Karma Jigme  constructed  Ugyen Pema Woeling Zangdopelri with financial support from his spiritual followers. Almost Nu 250 M was spent for the construction which began in 2011.
