GaedduCollge-LodenFoundation-MoUTo explore and develop the entrepreneurial potential of students, the Loden Foundation launched its student empowerment through entrepreneurship development programme. The event was organised at the Gaeddu College of Business Studies.

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the College and the Foundation.

The programme aims to stimulate and inculcate entrepreneurial skills and mindset of students. As part of it, the Foundation funds the best business proposals selected by respective colleges.

Seven colleges under the Royal University of Bhutan, including the Royal Thimphu College have been selected for the programme this time.

“In order to bring theoretical learning and practical experience of social entrepreneur to the young minds, we have initiated this programme,” says Pema Wangchuk, Special Executive of the Foundation.

“So in this programme, we provide seed fund of Nu. 50,000 where the students will do their business in their campuses. With this, we expect them to learn practically how they should do business,” he added.

Through the programme, the Foundation says they hope to sensitise students in various career opportunities, especially in seeking self-employment along with the idea of creating employment opportunities for others as well.

The Foundation has plans to introduce the idea of entrepreneurship to students in at least 15 institutions.

Meanwhile, Gaeddu College of Business Studies is positive about such initiatives. One of the faculty members said it would help in connecting academic knowledge to practical experience among the students.
