Bhutanese can now purchase duty-free gold from the Bhutan Duty Free outlets in Phuentsholing and Thimphu. This is according to a news release issued by Bhutan Duty Free Limited earlier today. However, the price will be payable in US dollars only.

This is a part of the company’s strategy to expand duty-free product offerings to Bhutanese as well, according to the news release. The company also stated that it shall determine the quantity of gold a person can buy. Currently, 20 grams of gold cost around Nu 110,000.

In March this year, the company started selling duty-free gold to eligible tourists.
