Three men have been put in quarantine in Haa after they were found breaching the lockdown protocols. They were caught travelling in a private vehicle at a temporary checkpoint set up in Samar Gewog on Saturday. Today, although the government eased certain lockdown restrictions in the districts outside Paro and Thimphu, the movement of private vehicles is still restricted.

According to sources, the suspects were on their way to Gakiling Gewog to collect burl wood (Baw), which is used widely for making traditional bowls (Dapa) and cups. They are shazop or wood craftsmen by profession and had valid permits to collect the wood species from the gewog. While two of them are from Trashi Yangtse, one is from Lhuentse. They came to Haa about a month ago.

The Haa police will forward the case to court once the suspects complete their 21-day quarantine.
