Royal Government of Bhutan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bhutan Office signed the Record of Discussions for the Technical Cooperation Project for Promotion of Technology Education and Diffusion through Digital Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) today.
According to a press release from the Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC), the project will help in establishing a global standard FabLab to enable a digital fabrication technology base at the College of Science and Technology CST), Royal University of Bhutan. The technical cooperation will look at means to enhance collaboration and interaction of interdisciplinary lab-based research within CST and other colleges, public and private institutions for providing an enabling environment towards fostering innovation.
The FabLab at CST will aim to provide the platform for open innovation for individuals/citizens and schools to work on own needs, enhance their own skills and develop customized products that address their social and economic problems.
The 36-month project is expected to begin from April 2020.
