2 bronze medals from the ongoing SAG as of today

Bhutan has won 2 bronze medals in the ongoing South Asian Games (SAG) held in Nepal as of today. A group of 145 delegates from Bhutan are currently taking part in the 13th edition of the regional sporting event. They are participating in 14 different sport disciplines.

As per the latest medal tally, as of today, Bhutan has only pocketed two bronze medals in the Taekwondo and the Karate event.

In Taekwondo, Tshering Yangchen had to settle for bronze as she lost the semi-final match 18-15 to an Indian fighter today. Similarly, in Karate, Sherab Wangchuk lost to Nepal in semi-finals and secured a bronze medal in the 75 kg category.

Meanwhile, The Bhutanese men’s football team were beaten 4-0 by the host nation, Nepal in their second match of the SAG men’s football today. With three points in hand, Bhutan will now have to win their remaining matches to advance to the next round of the competitions. They will now play the Maldives on Thursday.

Similarly, Lenchu Kunzang managed to enter the finals of the women’s 10 meter Air Rifle competition today but she had to settle for the fourth position as she missed out the third position by a mere 0.3 points.

And in Badminton, Men’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles will all play the quarter-finals tomorrow.

While in Tennis, Pema Norbu lost in the semi-finals of the men’s singles category against a Pakistani player today.

Meanwhile, the Bhutanese cricket team will play their first match of the competition against Sri Lanka tomorrow. And the Bhutanese Basketball, Weightlifting, Athletics, Archery and Boxing teams will take part in their respective events from Thursday onwards.
