Bhutan out of Esports Championship 2022

After losing to Korea in the first round, Bhutan is now out of the 14th Esports Championship 2022. Despite winning from Bulgaria, Maldives and Pakistan, Bhutan secured fewer points and was placed third in the Group B category.  Meanwhile, the top two countries; Korea and Maldives have qualified for the next round. 24-year-old Sogyal Tashi Samdup represented the country for the first time in the championship. The competition is being held in Bali, Indonesia.

GOWA programme employs 90 people

Ten private agencies recruited about 30 job seekers on the spot at the GOWA programme in Punakha. Through the GOWA programme, job seekers can find suitable jobs which match their skills. The labour ministry started organizing the programme from last year to address the mismatch of skills and jobs, and to create awareness about the labour market and job security.

DTT declares three more candidates

Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa unveiled three more candidates in Samtse today. The new candidates will represent three constituencies of Samtse and Haa. With this, the party has declared 18 candidates so far, for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

All the villages in Pema Gatshel are now connected by farm road. Gazawung village in Chhoekhorling Gewog is the last village in the district to have a road. Bhutan’s first-ever win at Miss and Mister Deaf Universum

Kinley Wangdi, a chef at Royal Academy in Paro, representing Bhutan is the first runner-up in the Mister Deaf category at Miss and Mister Deaf Universum. It was held in Bangkok in Thailand.

Lone spawn entrepreneur in Monggar doing good business

The government’s initiative to promote rural entrepreneurship programmes as a means to address unemployment and create job opportunities is proving to be a success in some parts of the country. The number of youth taking up entrepreneurship projects in villages is increasing. In Monggar, 26-year-old Sonam Gyeltshen, a lone spawn entrepreneur in the district has found his source of livelihood mushroom farming. It has become a lucrative business for him. He owns a mushroom farm and a spawn production unit at Kalapang in Saling Gewog. 

Country to have an online entrepreneurship mentoring

Come next year, entrepreneurs in the country will have an online entrepreneur mentoring programme. “Star Mentor” a group of youth has won the first-ever design challenge to develop a prototype of an online platform. Four teams participated in the challenge which was organized by YDF Innovate Bhutan with support from UNICEF to create online platforms for entrepreneurship mentoring.
