The Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) is officially dissolved. The move is part of the Royal Civil Service Commission’s reorganisation of civil service agencies.

An actor and an environmentalist, Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk started a month-long cycling campaign from Pema Gatshel Middle Secondary School yesterday. He will visit schools in 14 districts.

Calligrapher from Sikkim presents a Kupar of His Majesty The King to Her Majesty the Queen Mother

A renowned calligrapher from Sikkim presented Her Majesty Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck a calligraphic portrait of His Majesty The King today. It was presented during the opening of an art exhibition Her Majesty the Queen Mother graced at the Centre for Bhutan and GNH studies. Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing.

Ap Dopay, legendary singer, dies at 89

The country has lost a legendary singer and musician. Ap Dopay passed away on Wednesday night at his residence in Thimphu. He was 89. Considered as the master and treasurer of traditional songs, Ap Dopay from Talo in Punakha was a recipient of Druk Thuksey from His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Jasabi residents live in fear after the flood- Lhuentse

A flash flood in Jasabi of Lhuentse has killed five elderly people. The last two bodies were recovered today. The flash flood triggered by heavy rain also injured a couple and damaged properties, crops and livestock. The small village in Kurtoed Gewog was hit by the flood in the early hour of yesterday. 

Police arrest a man for statutory rape- Wangdue

A man from Wangdue Phodrang is in custody for the alleged rape of a six-year-old child. The Wangdue police arrested the 22-year-old suspect on Wednesday.

More than 800 farmers, entrepreneurs and CSOs received fund and equipment to scale up production

In 2020, with limited imports amid the pandemic, the country suffered from food security threats. This forced many farmers and entrepreneurs to start venturing into agriculture farming and post-harvest management. During the time, the Bhutan foundation in collaboration with USAID supported them through grants and providing equipment to scale up production.
