Adventurous and an enriching experience, share 24 scouts hiking the Trans Bhutan Trail

The 24 scouts on the 35-day Trans Bhutan Trail trek reached Bumthang yesterday afternoon. With this, the team has covered more than half of the trail’s 403-kilometre distance. 

Chips production unit to encourage entrepreneurship in Tangmachu CS – Lhuentse

To encourage entrepreneurship and provide hands-on practice to the students, Tangmachu Central School in Lhuentse inaugurated a Chips Production Unit in the school yesterday. The Production Unit will be operated by Student Business Seedling Club to process potato chips and other food items which will hit the market soon. The club which started last year has 25 members.

Residents want their landslide prone farm road realigned – Pema Gatshel

A farm road plays a crucial role in villages. But the 11-kilometre Dungchhilo-Telung farm road hasn’t been serving its purpose for the people of Dechhenling Gewog in Pema Gatshel. The farm road experiences constant landslides on some portion of the stretch every rainy season creating inconveniences. The farmers are now asking the gewog administration to realign the road.

Residents want their farm road repaired in Ranthangling Gewog

The people of Dharchhargang chiwog at Rangthangling Gewog in Tsirang were all happy when the Tsirang District Administration blacktopped a farm road in the chiwog in 2021. But their happiness was short-lived as the road suffered major damages today failing its purpose. The road beneficiaries are now seeking intervention from the relevant authorities to repair the road.

Phuentshogling reports 21 dengue cases

More than 20 individuals in Phuentshogling have tested positive for Dengue since the outbreak of the disease on the 13th of September. To curb the further spread of the disease, the Phuentshogling Thromde initiated the weekly advocacy program on Dengue on Friday. 

An Eco-trail for residents in Trashigang town

An eco-trail in Trashigang has opened to the public. This has come as a respite for residents in the town, which otherwise lacks recreational facilities owing to its limited spaces. Named “Shingtala Kezang Eco-Trail,” it is the only outdoor recreational facility near Trashigang town.

Meat vendors accuse BLDC of snatching their business

Meat vendors in Zhemgang are accusing the Bhutan Livestock Development Corporation (BLDC) of snatching their businesses. They say their business has been affected after the BLDC started doing business directly from the capital capturing all the major consumers in Zhemgang. The cooperation supplies meat to schools and hospitals in the district.

First ever 100-kilometre International Black Mountain Cycling challenge sees 78 participants

Tshering Dhendup from Mongar is the Champion of the first-ever 100-kilometre International Black Mountain Cycling challenge held yesterday in Trongsa. The cyclists raced along the east-west highway from Trongsa to Chagzam in Wangdue and back to Trongsa. Chimmi Dema from Thimphu was declared the winner in the women's category.

Phuentshogling General Hospital returns RIGSS infrastructure to the institute

With the improvement of the COVID situation globally and across the country, the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies office and its Coronation Hostel at Rinchending were handed back to the institute by the Phuentshogling General Hospital, on Friday. Since the first case of COVID-19 in March 2020, the RIGGS office and its 70 bedded hostels have actively served as a public hospital and isolation centre for COVID-19 patients in Phuentshogling.
