Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa becomes the fifth political party

Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa is officially a registered political party. The party received the Certificate of Registration from the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) today, taking the number of registered political parties in the country to five. The Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa is the first new political party in almost a decade to get a registration certificate from the ECB.

Bhutan to host the world’s toughest race on 13th October

An ordinary person would take twenty days to reach Bumthang from Gasa on foot, according to the Tourism Council of Bhutan. But thirty runners are looking forward to complete it in five days during the Snowman race scheduled on October 13. Snowman race is a high altitude ultra-marathon, challenging the world’s fittest and most elite runners to help raise awareness on the impacts of climate change.  

Dungkar PS and Dungkar PHC to be relocated from Nagtshang by December

The construction of the six-unit Dungkar Primary School and the three-unit Dungkar Primary Health Centre at Kurtoed Gewog in Lhuentse is gradually gaining momentum. The relocation of the structures which started towards the end of 2020 got delayed due to the pandemic. The structures are being moved to different locations from Nagtshang which is being developed into a museum.  

Gold-plated Tharpai Sa Ben ghi Zhingkoed consecrated at Kuenselphodrang

The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body consecrated “Tharpai Sa Ben ghi Zhingkhoed” at Kuenselphodrang in Thimphu today. It is a plaque carved with images of great saints. Earlier in the morning, the Dorji Lopen also administered Wang and Lung to more than a thousand devotees gathered at the site.

Bhutan Echoes’ monthly programme for inclusivity through literature & arts

Drukyul’s Literature Festival, which was previously known as Mountain Echoes Literary Festival, is currently in its 12th edition. It strives to foster literature and intellectual community in the country by creating a platform for budding writers, youth and individuals, who want to gain prominence in the literary world. The festival was launched in August 2010 through the Bhutan-India initiative. Its Royal Patron is Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck.

13-year-old boy impregnates a 14-year-old girl

Two teenagers studying in class V in one of the schools in Samtse will soon become parents. The expecting teenage parents, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, confessed to having consensual and unprotected sex. According to medical reports, the girl is now in her third trimester.
