Cluster Hospitals- improving access to health services

Consulting doctors, specifically specialists, is expected to get a lot easier from next year. The government says all ten “cluster hospitals” which will have five specialists each will be ready by the end of the year. This was shared by the Prime Minister during his recent visit to Lhuentse. A “cluster hospital” is an initiative of the government to identify a central hospital which will be equipped with specialists and that will cater to people of two or more districts.

Two telecom operators reduce rates for internet leased line services

If you have subscribed to an internet speed of 2 Mbps by using Bhutan Telecom’s internet leased line, you will now have to pay Nu 1,100. The monthly cost before the reduction was about Nu 2,500.

The suspect who allegedly sold American dream is in custody

The man who allegedly cheated a woman with an American dream is now in custody. The Thimphu police arrested the suspect from Jungzhina in Thimphu, last week. The woman filed a complaint against the man in June this year with the Paro Police.

Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering says rumours about around 11,000 civil servants getting managed out are not true. He also reiterated that the government is in no way trying to stop people from leaving for Australia. He shared these during his recent visit to Bumthang and Lhuentse.

Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter

The Thimphu District Court sentenced a man from Sarpang to ten years in prison for voluntary manslaughter. The 34-year-old was convicted of murdering his wife and dumping the body in a Septic tank four years ago in Thimphu. The couple were working as caretakers.
