The Royal Bhutan Police has taken action against ten police personnel for security lapses and failing to execute duty during the recent stabbing case at the Supreme Court. They are all transferred out of Thimphu and will also lose their seniority in the force. According to the RBP, the actions were taken in line with its service rules.

Calling your pet dogs 'Chang-Khyi' in anger is common among Bhutanese dog owners. It literally means stray dog. Chang-Khyi is believed to be native to Bhutan and an initiative is underway in Yuesipang, Thimphu to conserve this breed. 

Farmers across the country can purchase farm machinery designed to suit the country’s agricultural landscape. The Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC) is currently demonstrating such machines to farmers in various districts. In Bumthang, farmers feel these machines could be extremely beneficial but say they are a bit expensive.

The more than five-decade-old Lhamoi Dzingkha town in Dagana is gearing up to undergo a major facelift. The Lhamoi Dzingkha Dungkhag Administration has started handing over the land ownership certificates to the plot owners from Monday. The Lhamoi Dzingkha town was declared a satellite town in 2015.

Nothing seems to change when it comes to stories relating to road issues in the country. From communities in the rural areas still waiting for a road network to construction works getting delayed or to roads riddled with potholes within a few years or months of construction, the issues are the same and never-ending across the country. The Zhemgang town road tells the same story. After delaying for more than half a year, blacktopping works were completed two weeks ago. But now, the road is already in a bad condition.

People of Borangchilo and Maan villages under Shumar Gewog in Pema Gatshel are asking for a bridge over the Cherung stream. Without a bridge, the farm road that was completed in 2019 has not been serving its purpose.

There are stories and evidence of sexual harassment, molestation, and eve-teasing by coaches, officials, and fellow athletes in sports in western countries. Although such mishaps are not reported in Bhutan for now, the Bhutan Olympic Committee launched the first ‘Safe Sports Policy’ in Thimphu yesterday. The policy aims to prevent and respond to harassment and abuse against all involved in sports.
