Orange exporters in Samdrup Jongkhar lose orange to buyers across the border

Five orange exporters based in Samdrup Jongkhar are struggling to get orange to export to Bangladesh as most of the local traders and villagers sell the citrus directly to Indian traders across the border. According to the exporters, last year each of them exported about 20 truckloads of orange to Bangladesh. This season, five of them together, exported only 13 truckloads so far.

New parking lot for Gelephu Thromde

The issue of a lack of parking space in Gelephu Thromde has been put to rest, at least for now. The old truck parking near the vegetable shed was redeveloped into parking space for taxis and private vehicles. The thromde office started the redevelopment works earlier this year after the taxi drivers raised concerns about parking space crunch. The new parking space can accommodate 30 vehicles.
