High-Value Conservation- manage, maintain and enhance the value

As an environmentally rich country, Bhutan is home to many species of plants and animals. The areas which house them hold high value in terms of ecology, social and culture. To ensure that they are conserved for all times to come, the Department of Forests and Park Services and the World Wildlife Fund are initiating a project to appropriately manage the areas. Titled Living Landscapes: securing High Conservation Value in south-western Bhutan, the project will be implemented in nine districts.

Health ministry detects 22 new cases in the last five months

The Ministry of Health has detected 22 new HIV cases (13 male and 9 female). All of them got the infection through unprotected sex except for a minor who was infected through Mother-to-Child Transmission (MTCT). The cases were detected in the last five months.

Yadi fire leaves eight families homeless

The fire accident this morning in Yadi in Monggar completely burned down three three-storied traditional houses. A two-storied traditional house and a pan shop were also demolished to stop the fire from spreading further. The fire was contained at about 2 pm.
