Need tougher punishment to tackle online gambling- MoHCA Minister

With online gambling becoming rampant in the country, the Home and Cultural Affairs Minister, Ugyen Dorji said there should be tougher punishment for gambling. He said it is about time the laws are amended. The Jomotsangkha-Martshala Constituency MP, Norbu Wangzom questioned the minister on the preventive measures taken to deal with the issue during the question hour session today.

Thimphu Police forwards two alleged sexual harassment cases to District Court

The Thimphu police have forwarded the two alleged sexual harassment cases of the Royal Tutorial Project and Bhutan Power Corporation to the District Court. The cases were forwarded on Friday, last week. Both the incidents allegedly took place in September.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities today, two toilets, a footpath, and a ramp for people with disabilities were inaugurated at the Changlimithang stadium. The facility is expected to promote participation for people with disabilities especially during national events. The facility worth Nu 2.5 M is funded by the Helvatas Bhutan. International Day of persons with disabilities is a global observance celebrated every year on  December 3 to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of the society.

Paro Police apprehend man for killing a horse

Earlier this week, the Paro Police apprehended a driver who allegedly ran over a horse and killed it. The owner of the animal was also arrested. But they were released on sureties. The case is now in the district court. The Paro Police recorded twenty such cases this year alone. About 300 Bhutanese plan to leave for Australia by December third week
