Group of women commercializes orchid farming in Dagana

If not all, the majority of Bhutanese raise at least few indoor and outdoor plants and flowers to beautify their residences. This culture has shot up demand for decorative plants and flowers in the markets. In Dagana, anticipating a brisk business and taking advantage of abundant varieties of orchids in the district, a group of eight women in Gesarling chiwog under Gesarling gewog ventured into commercial orchid farming in March this year. Although there is no official record, the district is known for its rich habitation of wild orchids.

Samdingkha-Sewla farm road benefiting the residents finally after maintenance

Health ministry rolls out COVID vaccine for children aged 12-17 in nine districts

Around 50,000 children aged between 12 and 17 will receive their first dose of the Moderna vaccine in the next one week. The vaccination started today in nine districts. The Moderna is the second vaccine after Pfizer, approved for use in children in this age group.

Police seize close to 39,000 of SP Plus capsules, Thimphu

Thimphu Police seized close to 39,000 Spasmo-Proxyvon (SP) Plus capsules recently. The drugs addressed to a shop in Thimphu were consigned from Jaigaon, India via Gelegphu. First intercepted by Customs officials in Gelegphu, the consignment was allowed for transhipment to the addressee in order to nab the suspect. However, the suspect is still at large.

Torrential rain wreaks havoc in Monggar

BPC employee allegedly embezzled around Nu 1.42 M, Paro

A former accountant of Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC) in Paro allegedly embezzled funds amounting to around Nu 1.42 M. According to the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) investigation report, she also allegedly forged signatures and submitted fake bills to settle advances and repay her borrowings. BPC reported the case to the ACC in 2018.
