Water Flagship Programme to provide adequate drinking water for people of Philooma, Samdrup Jongkhar

Villagers of Philooma Pam in Orong Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar will soon be getting adequate drinking water. Under the government's Water Flagship Programme, the Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag Administration plans to provide a new source of water supply for the villagers by June this year.

DT members want Dagapela-Soonkosh highway to be taken care of by Tsendagang DoR

Local leaders in Dagana want the Department of Roads (DoR) sub-division office in Tsendagang in Dagana to continue looking after the 44-kilometre road stretch between Dagapela and Soonkosh. The highway was once taken care of by the DoR sub-division office in Tsendagang but since last year, the Tsirang DoR took over. The issue was raised in the Dagana Dzongkhag Tshogdu (DT) last month.

Local leaders concerned with inferior construction works in gewogs, Zhemgang

A recent inspection has uncovered substandard construction activities in some gewogs of Zhemgang. Local Government (LG) leaders say the contractors concerned were asked to demolish the structures and reconstruct without delay. A monitoring and evaluation committee visited all the eight gewogs and found out the inferior quality works in drainage, walls and road construction works.
