Suung Joen App delayed as government prioritizes developing other apps amid the pandemic

Suung Joen, the communication App is yet to be developed as the government failed to develop it even today. Maenbi_Tsaenkhar's Member of Parliament (MP) Choki Gyeltshen questioned the government on the status of the App and Free Wifi today in the question hour session of the National Assembly. The Information and Communications Minister, Karma Donnen Wangdi said the Ministry had to delay the work and reprioritise developing other information management systems.

Drayang owners unhappy with the changes the government proposes

The Prime Minister's conditional offer to re-open the drayangs with certain reforms is not well received by the owners. They are especially not in for doing away with the 'request system.' In a meeting with the drayang owners earlier this month, Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering asked them to alter the request practice where the women need to make contact to request patrons and suggested arranging salary system for the employees.

Police arrest three more business owners for operating after 9 pm

Police in Thimphu arrested three more business owners for breaching the COVID-19 protocols yesterday. They were caught operating their businesses after 9 PM. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Police with DeSuups are patrolling every day with special intensive ad-hoc patrolling thrice a week.

BHUTAN-1, Bhutan’s first satellite’s life comes to an end

The journey of BHUTAN-1, the country's first satellite's life came to an end. The lifespan of BHUTAN-1 which was expected to last six to nine months exceeded the designed life. The Department of IT and Telecom (DITT) under the Ministry of Information and Communication said that the last data showed that all technical parameters of the satellite were normal and that any end of satellite life is a pre-determined fate.

Over 2,100 graduates qualify for the main examination, BCSE

The pass percentage for this year's Preliminary Examination for the Bhutan Civil Service Examination increased by over 10 per cent as compared to last year. Announcing the result today, the commission revealed over 2,100 graduates this year have successfully qualified for the main examination which will be held in January next year.

The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) acknowledged the will of the people of Chhoekhor_Tang constituency on the outcomes of the bye-election held on 19th November. The new Member of Parliament from Chhoekhor_Tang Constituency in Bumthang, Dawa formally joined the office today.  The oath or affirmation of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The Lhuentse District Court sentenced two men in their twenties to a prison term of over five years for illicit trafficking of controlled substances in October this year. The court passed the judgment on Tuesday.

Farmers get a new vegetable shed, Lingmethang in Monggar

Soon, the farmers coming to sell their farm products during the weekends at Lingmethang in Monggar will not have to compete for space. They will also be saved from doing business under difficult weather conditions. A two-story integrated shed that is more spacious and properly built is all set to open in the town.
