Jiti border, Samtse under increased vigilance

Crime rate drops drastically in the capital

The total number of crimes reported in Thimphu reduced drastically this year. While over 1000 crimes were reported from January to July 1 last year, Thimphu police recorded just over 700 cases this year. The police officials said the reduction is possibly due to various measures and restrictions taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Tourist entry points in Gelegphu and Samdrup Jongkhar approved

In a move to facilitate a more proportional spread of tourists across the country, the Government has approved two new tourist entry points in Gelegphu and Samdrup Jongkhar as part of the Economic Contingency Plan (ECP).

Mandatory face masks in public places and public transport services

The government has made it mandatory for people to wear face masks in public places and while availing public transport services. However, the Health Minister said imposing fines on violators is not feasible, during a press briefing yesterday.
