Like almost all businesses around the globe, the small town of Gedu along the Thimphu-Phuentshogling highway in Chhukha has also been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. With the closure of Gedu College of Business Studies and only a few travellers, the town these days remains desolate and quiet.

Donations for COVID-19 entirely on voluntary basis

According to reports, there are rumours about people in remote areas forced to donate for the COVID-19 relief fund. However during a press conference yesterday, the Foreign Minister Dr Tandi Dorji said it is not allowed for any local government or agency to compulsorily make people donate but will be entirely on a voluntary basis.
