Elephant calf rescued in Gelegphu

An elephant calf that got trapped in an ongoing construction of a duct in Gelegphu town was rescued yesterday. The calf had fallen into the duct while feeding on a nearby banana tree with a herd of elephants at around four in the morning.

DNT, DPT through to general elections, secured 92,722 and 90,020 votes respectively

2018 NA primary round records voter turnout of 66.36%

The primary round of the Third Parliamentary National Assembly elections held yesterday saw a voter turnout of 66.36 per cent. This is an increase of 12 per cent from the 2013 NA primary round, which recorded a voter turnout of 55 per cent.

Nation goes to the polls

The nation went to polls today to elect two parties which will contest the National Assembly’s General Round of Elections. A total of 182,216 voters out of 304,868 voted through the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) across the country.
