The whole Nation came together to celebrate the unparalleled legacy of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. Thousands of people, dressed in their finest attire, thronged Changlimethang stadium in Thimphu to celebrate the 60th Birth Anniversary of the Druk Gyalpo.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo celebrated the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo with the people of Tsenkhar Gewog under Lhuentse Dzongkhag, today. The celebrations took place in Namdroling Monastery.

The dragons to clash again

Bhutan contributes US$ 15.5 B worth of environmental services to other countries, every year. According Ecosystem Services Journal 2013 published in Australia, Bhutan is one of the highest donor countries in the world in terms of ecosystem services. An Australian professor, Ida Kubiszewski and his team had conducted the research.

Central Monk Body walks to their winter residence

Unlike in the past, the Central Monk Body, led by Dorji Lopen, left for their winter residence on foot, today. They will be walking about nine hours a day for three days, to reach Punakha from Thimphu. The Zhung Dratshang left Tashichhodzong at 6 AM.

Foreign journalist reminisces about interviewing Fourth Druk Gyalpo

John Elliot was the first foreign journalist to interview His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo at length in Thimphu, in 1987. John, a British Journalist, who was in Paro to attend Gross National Happiness Conference recently, said His Majesty, who was only 32 at that time, had spoken on social harmony, political stability, corruption, preservation of culture and traditions and most importantly on contentment and happiness.

Two found dead inside a fuel tanker

A 29-year-old driver and his 26-year-old handy boy were found dead inside a fuel tanker they were travelling in, at Sorchin in Phuentshogling, yesterday.
