National football team leaves for Thailand to play World Cup qualifying match

The National football team left for Thailand to acclimatise for the much awaited upcoming World Cup qualifying match, today. The team will play its first match against Sri Lanka in Colombo on March 12.

Fuel price hiked by Nu 3

Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by around Nu 3 a liter by today morning. India revised their fuel price by the same rate Saturday.

A cricket tournament, the K4 Cup, began in Thimphu on Saturday. In yesterday’s match, Tashas United defeated Youth XI by 115 runs. Ten teams are taking part in the tournament, played during the weekends, at Dechencholing. The final will be played on May 17.

His Majesty grants audience to Indian foreign secretary

His Majesty the King granted an audience to the Indian Foreign Secretary, Dr. S Jaishankar, yesterday.

A man, 48, from Lhuentse died on the spot when the trailer truck he was driving fell about 50 meters below the road. The incident occurred on Saturday at around 8:30 PM, about 26 kilometers from Trongsa towards Thimphu. He was transporting construction materials for the Mangdechhu Hydroelectric project. Police said the mechanical failure caused the accident. The Gyalpoi Zimpon’s office in Trongsa offered a semso of 10,000 ngultrum to the family members of the deceased.

Passenger bus collides with a truck killing three

Two men and a woman were killed when the passenger bus travelling from Phuentshogling to Gomtu collided with a truck at 3:45 PM, yesterday. The accident occurred at Madrihaat, close to Hasimara in India.
