Continuing Education or Discontinuing Education?

Currently, there are over 24,000 civil servants in the country, out of which more than 1,200 are continuing their education in Sherubtse College, the Royal Thimphu College and in College in India.

Tshering Namgay is the winner of this year’s Trongsa Penlop Rolling Trophy golf tournament. He is the overall Nett winner and was awarded the cash prize of Nu.120,000. BB Gurung is overall gross winner, and overall Nett runner up is Tshering Tobgyal. Trongsa Penlop Rolling Trophy golf tournament was initiated in 1994. Total of 120 golfers participated in the tournament.

Cleaning campaign at the Mebartsho

Attempts to clean the Mebartsho often prove unsuccessful, largely owing to the lake’s location, which renders cleaning not only difficult but also dangerous. However, the Desuups in Bumthang teamed up with the Dzongkhag and the Police and carried out a cleaning campaign at the lake area, last Friday.

Bhutan is hosting the sixth annual conference of the South Asia Women’s Network, SWAN in Thimphu. It is on the theme “Gross National Happiness and Sustainable Development for the Women of South Asia.” It brings together women leaders, academics, experts, activists and media representatives from across the region. The 3-day conference will see panel discussions on key issues affecting women in South Asia.

Bhutan wins two bronze medals at Asian bodybuilding championship

Two bronze medals were awarded to the Bhutanese athletes at the 48th Asian Bodybuilding Fitness and Physique Sports Championships held in Macau, China.
