Customers and automobile workshop owners at Olakha in Thimphu are expressing their dissatisfaction on the infrastructure provided by the government. They say the concerned authority needs to do more about the workshop area.

First private clinic in Gelegphu

Gelegphu has its first private clinic now. Its establishment has helped ease number of patients visiting the Gelegphu Central Regional Referral Hospital, especially for X-ray, blood and urine tests.

A school earning a million from waste

Jigme Losel Primary School in Thimphu earned about a million ngultrum by selling wastes last year. The school started the initiative of collecting and selling wastes in July last year.

His Majesty grants audience to Kuwait Minister

(Picture Story): His Majesty the King granted an audience to the Minister of Al-Diwan Al-Amiri of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, yesterday. The visit is in keeping with the tradition of exchanging high-level visits between the two countries. His Majesty the King visited Kuwait in February 2011 to attend the 50th anniversary of Kuwait’s independence.

PM apologises to graduates for failing to do away with PE

The government could not fulfill their pledge to do away the Preliminary Examination (PE) last year, nor did they do away with it this year. The Prime Minister apologised to the university graduates while responding to questions raised by some of the graduates at the on-going National Graduate Orientation Programme.

Gewogs allocated more budget in second year of 11 FYP

Responding to the concerns raised by various local leaders on gewog budget cuts, the Prime Minister clarified that the money the government has, has to be used efficiently and transparently.

Bhutan declares 51% as protected area

Bhutan has declared 51 percent of the country as the protected area. However, no comprehensive assessment of the protected areas has been carried out.

Price of petrol comes down with effect from 9PM, today. Price of a litre of petrol has reduced by Nu.1.91 to 2.03 for different locations in the country. In Thimphu, a litre of petrol will now cost Nu.70.18, Nu.68.16 in Phuentshogling and Nu.64.65 in Gelegphu. In Bumthang, a litre will cost Nu.67.80, in Trashigang Nu.66.90, while in Samdrup Jongkhar Nu.65.02 a litre. The price was lowered following reduction at source in India.

Indian Embassy celebrates the Independence Day of India

The Indian Community in Thimphu observed 68th Independence Day at the Indian Embassy this morning. The function began with the hoisting of the Indian Flag.
