Over 200 years old murals in danger of being destroyed

Murals that are over 200 years old are in danger of being destroyed. The renovations of Tango could have an impact on the murals painted on the walls of the monastery.

Two road blocks along Gelegphu–Zhemgang highway, cleared

Continuous rainfall last night has resulted in two road blocks along the Gelegphu-Zhemgang highway. One block occurred at Chisopani and the other at the box cutting. Passenger buses and other vehicles headed for Zhemgang were stranded for about four hours.

A week-long athletics festival, for the children between the age group of 9 to 12 years in Bumthang, ended yesterday. Over 130 children took part in the event. Best athletes from the event will be recognized for the future national-level competitions. The Bhutan armature athletics federation organized the event with the support from Bumthang’s education sector.

Chhukha tariff for pay raise not justifiable: BKP

Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party (BKP), says to use the revenue from Chhukha Hydropower for the pay raise of the civil servants is not justifiable. BKP says while they support pay raise of the civil servants, Chhukha Hydropower is a state property, and belongs to all the citizens of the country.

The Royal Bhutan Police received two fire fighting trucks, donated by Honorary Consul of Bhutan in Kagoshima in Japan, Dr. Ryoichi Nagata. One fire fighting truck will be handed over to Wangdue Phodrang Fire Brigade and the other one to Thimphu Fire Brigade. Dr. Ryoichi Nagata also made a similar donation, last year.

Woman dies of mushroom poisoning

A 32-year-old woman died of mushroom poisoning in Udzorong, Trashigang. The deceased has consumed wild mushroom during dinner along with three other family members on Wednesday night.

Two men killed in accident

Two men died in an accident when the tripper truck they were in went off the road and fell 35 feet below. The accident occurred at Goshi Gewog, 8 KM from Dagapela towards Dagana.
