Both the boys and girls football teams from Ugyen Academy are the winners of the 10th National School Level Football Championship held in Tsirang. Fourteen schools from across the country took part. It was organised by the Department of Youth and Sports.

Kagyud Moenlam Chenmo begins in Bodhgaya

The 31st Kagyud Moenlam Chenmo began in Bodhgaya in the Indian state of Bihar on Friday.

Monetary disputes were recorded as the highest number of cases received by the Judiciary in 2013, while matrimonial cases were the next highest, according to the annual report released by the Judiciary. Six thousand one hundred and thirty three cases related to monetary disputes recorded in 2013, followed by 4,696 matrimony-related cases.

Bhutan Football Federation will have an U-14 national football team for the first time. The selection process for the team has already begun in Gelegphu. Two hundred and sixteen youth from 12 dzongkhags are taking part in the selection programme. Only 22 will be chosen as national footballers. The selection programme will end on January 12.

Bhutanese Karate team returned home with six gold medals. The team participated in the Five Nation International Karate Championship in Mumbai. Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka also took part. Bhutan placed third among the countries.

Two issues have emerged after, Lekey Wangdi, one of the accused committee members in Gyalpoizhing land case, submitted his evidence rebuttal in the Monggar District Court, today.

Four apprehended in connection with stabbing

The Phuentsholing police have apprehended four suspects in connection with a stabbing case of a 21-year-old man. The suspects, all in their early twenties, were apprehended on the night of January 1, after the incident was reported. Of the four suspects, two are of Indian origin.

People from Haa and Paro celebrate Lomba

This week has been a week of celebrations in the country. This year the Lomba, New Year, and Nyilo fell sequentially on the calendar. Lomba, the annual festival celebrated by Parops and Haaps, falls on the 29th day of the 10th month in the Bhutanese calendar and is celebrated for five days.
