RCSC declares BCSE results

The results of this year’s Bhutan Civil Service Examinations (BCSE) were announced today. Sixty two percent of the graduates have qualified scoring more than 50 percent.

3 houses gutted by a fire

Three houses were razed to the ground by a fire last night at Khenthongmani, Yongphula in Trashigang. Two of the houses were single storied and the other was a double storied house. A Santro car was also gutted by the fire.

Wanglung ceremony begins in Phuentshogling

The Mipham Kabum Wanglung in Phuentsholing began today. Thousands of people from all over the country are attending the Wanglung.

A 38-year-old man has been accused of raping an eight-year-old girl. The case is filed with the Thimphu Police on Tuesday. The man, who was unknown to the girl, is said to have met the girl at the gaming zone at Shearee Square. The girl has undergone a medical check-up and results are yet to be shared. The accused, meanwhile, has denied the allegation. The Police are still investigating the case.

Film equipment worth little over Nu. 9.5 million was received by the Bhutan Film Association previously known as Motion Pictures Association of Bhutan today. There are two sets of camera, sound and lighting equipment. The film makers can now hire the equipment. The President of the Association, Mila Tobgay, said the equipment will help them produce high quality films. The grant was given by the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo graced the consecration ceremony of Drepoong Woop Lhakang, and the 35-feet-tall, Dema Nyeshu Taskchi Tongdrel, in Monggar today.

Team Tertons FC won the first Futsal Club Championship after defeating Druk Star FC. The final score stood at five goals to one. The team topped the table with 17 points. They received a cash prize of Nu.50,000 along with a trophy.

School Admission Pressure: Urban versus Rural

There are 33 schools in the capital. And according to the principals of the schools, admission pressure is increasing year by year. Limited number of classrooms and other school facilities are further aggravating the situation. To ease the problem, the education ministry has planned to build a higher secondary school in the capital.
