Illegal sandalwood seized in Paro
The Divisional Forest Office in Paro seized yet another illegal sandalwood consignment yesterday.
When there is lack of professional teachers
They have big dreams, big ambition. But they are not being able to lay what they call a strong foundation to achieve their big dreams and ambitions. This, the students of Singye Namgyel Community Primary School, say is because of lack of professional teachers in their school. Out of the seven teachers, only two are professionals and rest five are contract teachers.

Twenty six monks, researchers, translators and lecturers attended a nine-day training programme on ‘From Manuscripts and Xylographs to Modern Editions: Buddhist Textual Scholarship in Theory and Practice’. The participants were trained to interpret and investigate Buddhists texts and ideas.
Punakha Angel- a music club with a purpose
A music club called ‘Punakha Angel’ with students from Khuruthang was formed in 2009. The man behind this club is Dr. Kim, a South Korean music teacher who has been volunteering and living in Bhutan for over 11 years now.

Tawpo, 69, will now not have to come all the way to Thimphu to get medical services whenever he is sick. His village, Hongtsho, under Chang Gewog in Thimphu got a new grade II Basic Health Unit (BHU) yesterday.

Giving helping hand
A group of volunteers from Royal Bhutan Police and Zhemgang Dzongkhag administration are building a temporary shelter for the family whose house was damaged by a landslide last Saturday in Wangdigang. The landslide had been caused by incessant rainfall.
