24 new HIV/AIDS detected

Twenty Four new HIV/AIDS cases were diagnosed from December 2012 to June this year. Out of the total, 13 are male and 11 female. According to a press release from heath ministry, the new cases reported are from all occupational background. They are from 12 to 56 years old.

Deosiri bridge in Assam damaged further, no vehicles allowed

No vehicles are allowed to ply over the Deosiri bridge in Assam, India following heavy rainfall on Saturday. The rainfall has damaged the bridge further. Earlier, only light vehicles were allowed to ply after cracks developed on the bridge. Bhutanese travelling to and from Gelegphu have to use the bridge.

Adoption- a way to help younger students

In the past, it was common to see adopted brothers and sisters among students in schools. The trend slowly disappeared with time. However, in Bjednag Primary School in Wangdue Phodrang, the school authority is encouraging students to adopt one another as brothers and sisters.

Non-national man forge documents, withdraws Nu. 4 mn

A forgery case was reported at the Regional Revenue and Customs Office (RRCO) in Phuentsholing. In the incident that happened in June, an Indian man had forged customs declaration form and signatures for release of Indian Rupee through bank demand drafts.

After five long years

People working in Thimphu are finally getting an opportunity to represent their respective offices in the departmental volleyball tournament. The tournament was last organised some five years ago. The participants say such type of event was left neglected for some time now in the capital.

More Chorten vandalisms in Trashigang

Three men have been apprehended in connection with two Chortens vandalism in Yabrang, Trashigang. The vandalism apparently has taken place on July 27. The two men said they did vandalise a Chorten but not the current ones. They said they vandalised a chorten in 2012 and got nothing out of it.

Phuentsholing hospital faces doctor shortage

Every monsoon, the Phuentsholing general hospital sees a huge number of patients. However, unlike last year, this year the hospital is seeing an increasing pressure on managing the patient load mainly due to the shortage of doctors. The shortage has equally affected the patients visiting the hospital.
