Gyalpoizhing town representative accused of spreading snails

The town representative of Gyalpoizhing in Monggar, Gembo, is being accused of spreading Giant African Land Snails to Lingmithang and Threthangbi. After the outbreaks of snails in Gyalpoizhing this summer, people from nearby places, said that the town representative is not doing enough to control snail population of his town.

ECB demands action from PDP

The Election Commission of Bhutan has asked People's Democractic Party's former candidate of Gangzur-Minjay Constituency, Sonam Jatsho, to stop campaigning, immediately and unconditionally. Sonam Jatsho is said to be campaigning even though he is not the candidate-designate of the party for the constituency.  The Party has Lobzang Dorji, 25, as their candidate-designate.

Blaze in Wangdue rages on for the fourth day

(Update:) The forest fire in Wangdue Phodrang is raging on for the fourth day today. Thousands of acres of forests have been destroyed.

His Majesty attends Namgay Tongchoe

Man stabs wife and himself to death

A man stabbed himself and his wife to death this morning in Bongo Gewog under Chhukha Dzongkhag. Both of them were teachers of Alaykha Primary School. The incident is reported to have happened before seven this morning at their home.

PDP stands firm on its pledges to armed forces and religious body

The People’s Democratic Party says Common Forums are necessary. The party also said it stands firm on its pledges of support to the armed forces and the religious bodies.

3,000 acres of forest cover destroyed

Over 3,000 acres of forest cover have been destroyed by a fire in Wangdue Phodrang. The fire is said to have started yesterday from a labour camp near Gawachhu under Daga Gewog. BBS's reporter, Kuenzang Thinley, says the fire is spreading towards a place called Pinsa.

Will the real candidate please stand up?

The candidates of Druk Nyamrup Tshopa and Druk Chirwang Tshogpa of Gangzur-Minjey Constituency have put a complaint letter to the Election Office of Lhuentse against the former candidate of People’s Democratic Party, Sonam Jatsho.
