Tharchen leads in Trongsa

The former NC MP Dr.Jagar Dorji lost from Trongsa. He got the least votes, 706 votes including the postal ballot, amongst the three candidates vying for a seat in the National Council.

Dasho Dr. Sonam Kinga from Trashigang secures maximum yes votes

Dasho Dr.Sonam Kinga, the former NC member, and also the lone candidate from Trashigang managed 11,219 yes votes securing a seat in the National Council. He managed 7826 yes votes through EVMs and 3393 votes through postal ballot. Two thousand six hundred and twenty voted no through EVMs and 75 through postal ballot.

A former Lecturer is Bumthang's choice

Nima, 35, a former Lecturer at Paro College of Education, won from Bumthang. He garnered 1,936 votes. He got 328 votes through postal ballot.

50 people in Paro receives free surgery

More than 50 people from across the country received free surgery at a week-long surgery camp in Paro. The camp was organised by the Tarayana Foundation, last week, to correct cleft lips and injuries caused by burns and wild animal attacks. The foundation also provided food, accommodation and travel expenses to financially disadvantaged patients.

32 families in Changjiji have apartments’ ownership

Thirty two families in Changjiji, Thimphu, now have ownership of their apartments. The apartments, located near Loselling School, were constructed under a pilot housing project. The agreements of the home ownership between the tenants and National Housing Development Corporation were handed to them, today.

National Council’s election in Lunana likely to postpone

The final attempt to transport Electronic Voting Machines and the Election Officials to Lunana, in Gasa was unsuccessful. The choppers, transporting the EVMs and the officials, had to return to Paro Airport from Dochula because of poor weather condition.
