Preparation for India’s Republic Day in full swing

As part of the final preparation, a full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade was held today in New Delhi.

A day-long photo exhibition called the Rainbow of Happiness was held in Samdrup Jongkhar town yesterday.

His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen are in New Delhi on a eight-day State Visit. His Majesty has been invited as the Chief Guest for the Indian Republic Day celebrations.Their Majesties were received at the Indira Gandhi international airport by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. E. Ahamed, today.

Ten people arrested in connection with Lhakhang burglary

The police have arrested two people involved in the burglary of religious scripture written in gold from a Lhakhang. They were apprehended from Ramtoktok on January 19.

DNT receives certificate of registration from ECB

Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa received the certificate of registration from the Election Commission of Bhutan, on Sunday, taking the total number registered political parties in the country to five.

Outbreak of bird flu has been reported in Namkhaling village in Gelephu. Livestock and BAFRA officials have culled close to four hundred birds in the village to prevent the spread of the flu.

The Head Office of the Jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park located in Tangsibji gewog in Trongsa to soon be moved to Nabji in Korphu gewog. This was decided during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Korphu gewog. The present head office will be given to the Tshangka Lower Secondary School.
