With the newly constructed prayer (Tshokhang) hall, Kanglung Sherda in Trashigang can now accommodate monks and visitors during any religious activities.

The new spacious hall with improved facilities like guest room and washrooms was constructed at a cost of around Nu 25 M.

“It will benefit our sherda, especially while conducting drubchen, yarney and other religious activities. It will also benefit students of Sherubtse College, schools, civil servants and public nearby. It will help them to engage in religious activities with spacious space,” Trashigang Lam Neten Karma Rangdrel said.

Earlier, Kanglung Zangdo Pelri is the only space, where monks perform a religious activity. They even used it as a classroom. Over the years, with an increase in the number of monks in the shedra, it became congested.

“We had difficulty in accommodating people inside the Zangdo Pelri, during religious activities. Also, lack of toilet facilities was another issue,” Lam Neten added.

Today, Kanglung Shedra has around 170 monks including, a lopen and Khenpo.
